[SC_NEWS] Forthcoming DVDs.

 This'll be mainly of interest to UK Saints, or at least those with DVDs
and TVs that can cope with region 2 PAL discs...

Network DVD will be releasing The Saint (with Roger Moore) on DVD in the
UK this year.

Current plan is to do a box set of the complete black and white episodes
that will be in shops sometime in June. This will be followed up with a
box set of all the color episodes probably in time for Christmas.

They may try and get "Return..." out in time for Christmas but due to
the workload involved don't hold your breath.

These will be rounded off with a Dutton/Clarke set probably sometime
next year.

They're not making any formal announcement as to extras yet but a few
people on this list know what they're working on and I think it's fair
to say that those dedicated fans owning the Umbrella sets might want to
consider selling those on Ebay.

I should, perhaps, confess that I am working with Network on these
releases so am very obviously biased. All I can do is nick a phrase from
Burl Barer; I seem to recall that in the introduction to his Saint
history he said something along the lines of "This is the Saint book I
always wanted to read" well, these DVDs are quickly turning into the
Saint DVDs I always wanted to see.

As soon as I can spill more beans, I'll open the can here.

You should also note that on March 6th DD Home Entertainment will be
relasing a box set of all the color episodes. DD Home Ent are only
allowed to sell via direct mail (they produce those catalogues that fall
out of your Sunday paper) and have announced the set to be released on
March 6th, priced £89.99 with 12 discs in total. They will apparently
have some extras on but they couldn't tell me what.
